About David Weber

As long as I can remember I’ve always been a creative person with a “salesperson’s flair”. I also liked to write. Actually, I loved to write. In fact, freshman year in college I signed up for an English literature course and enjoyed it more than any of my other courses. (I was a computer science major at the time.) My friends were shocked as this was the English “cut” course, the class used to weed out would-be English majors. I found what I loved but had no idea how to apply it to the real world, especially since I knew I didn’t want to be a true salesperson. Then I discovered copywriting.

Today, years later, my love of copywriting/storytelling and branding continues. There is nothing more satisfying than crafting a company’s image through my efforts, and then seeing the results of those efforts.

But you probably want to know more about my experience. I’ve worked for Fortune 500 companies including VMware, Adobe, Apple; for advertising agencies such as FooteConeBelding/Direct and WundermanCatoJohnson; and now as a successful freelancer (David Weber Creative) working with a wide variety of clients in numerous industries including high tech, healthcare, financial, consumer, and others. I am as adept working with two-person startups as I am working with billion-dollar divisions of global multinationals.

I have helped brand/launch new products, services and even entire companies.

Clients seek out me out for projects because I understand their businesses inside and out, offer dead-on strategic thinking, and deliver compelling copy that not only gets noticed, it gets results—oftentimes beating company-best records. How? I work from a psychographic standpoint, meaning what your target market is thinking, what makes them take action. This dramatically accelerates the sales process as a lot of the guesswork is removed. I’ve also won numerous industry awards and have appeared in Communication Arts and other industry publications.

As for education, I have a BA in English/History from the University of Rochester and an MA in Communications from the Newhouse School of Syracuse University. I often tell clients my undergrad work taught how to write and my graduate work taught me how to apply it.
